Winning Compositions

You may have an image which is completely and totally correct in all technical respects, but if you don’t have good composition, you don’t have a great image. Compositional tools are guidelines that speak to what our mind and eye find most pleasing.  There are lots of ways to create great compositions and any combination of ways will make the image stronger yet.

  3. Any composition tips for car photos?

      Harry, car photos aren’t really my forte, but the best ones I’ve seen are almost always macro or detail studies of a particular car feature. Compositions you would be looking for things like the “rule of thirds”, leading lines, framing, that sort of thing. The other tool which seems to be effective is to put the vehicle in context some how with it’s environment. A recognizable local icon viewed through the car window sort of thing. You can also use implied motion when the vehicle is in motion with a blur. Hope that helps 🙂 Meg
